Hundreds of years ago, the land of Akhiel was rich and beautiful under the blessing of the gods. The land was fertile and humans lived happily. But humanity took prosperity for granted, abandoned the temples and began worshiping powerful Archmages. With heavy eyes did the gods see this and their blessings were withdrawn. The land hastily became barren and misery followed...

Centuries later, in the Kingdom of Karsh, hope returned. The prophet Harlac transmitted a message of redemption from the Heavens. Harlac gathered his people to show them their mistakes. He established the Road to Redemption and was proclaimed King. The Netherlings, an evil force that lurks in the Underworld, helped by the so-called Rebellion, stopped his plans by stealing the Redemption Stone. Harlac, trying to fulfil his plan, wandered restlessly around Akhiel fighting Netherlings and Rebels. People have suffered ever since. Some have given up hope; some believe the everlasting King will succeed.
